What we offer:

• ABC is a programme for people with no or very little formal education. You learn to read and write in Swedish. NB! This programme will not run 2021–2022. Subjects: Swedish, sports, math, society, culture and religion and IT. Included in your studies is also work practice for one week which will give you some insight into working life in Finland.

• DEF is a programme for students who already know some Swedish but would like to learn more at a slow pace. (Starting level: A1.2) Subjects: Swedish, sports, math, society, culture and religion and IT. Included in your studies is a two-week period of work practice which will give you some insight into working life in Finland and a chance to practice your language skills.

• Svenska 1 (basic Swedish)
In this programme you aim to reach level A2. (B1). At the end of the course, you should be able to master everyday situations in Swedish. Other skills include comprehending the core message in news texts as well as producing your own written messages in Swedish. The keen student, who is prepared to put in the time and effort, can participate in the national mid-level language exam in the spring. This exam is mandatory for anyone applying for Finnish citizenship. In Vasa you can take the exam either at Alma or Vamia. Svenska 1 also includes a two-week period of work practice.
In addition, this programme will give you useful knowledge about how things work in Finland. It will help you get your bearings and find your way in Finnish society (SKR = society, culture and religion).

• Svenska 2 (target level B1–B2) is for students who have a basic knowledge of Swedish (A2 level). Perhaps you plan to go on to further studies or want to apply for a job that requires more advanced language skills. This programme will prepare you for the national mid-level language exam at Alma or Vamia. Svenska 2 also includes a two-week period of work practice.

Both svenska 1 och 2:
You can also choose one or several of the following: textile techniques, handicraft, sport, IT (basic level) and Basic Finnish.
